KEY ARTISTIC ACHIEVEMENTS
- Feb 2020 – recipient of Fife VACMA award funded by Creative Scotland and Fife Council & administered by Fife Contemporary and Fife Cultural Trust. To add printmaking to artistic output by becoming a member of Fife Dunfermline Printmakers Workshop, attending printmaking course and purchase of tools and materials.
- 2019/2020 – awarded Railway Heritage Trust grant to renovate disused building at Burntisland railway station to become my studio and exhibition space.
- one of Edinburgh-based charity Art in Healthcare’s main Artist Facilitators, including running weekly art session as part of their Room For Art outreach programme.
- Since 2013 have been Artist Adviser on Art in Healthcare's Art Selection Committee.
- In 2013 Jeremy Mills Publisher published my second book, Landscapes & Birds of Scotland, an Artist's View. Publication coincided with my RGI Kelly Gallery solo exhibition in Glasgow. The 120-page book showcases sketches, paintings and writings from my art & nature explorations of Scotland, including my ongoing Scotland By Rail work. Forewords by Stuart Housden RSPB, Michael Palin, John Busby artist.
- 2010 Royal Over-Seas League (ROSL) Commonwealth Travel Scholarship - 6 weeks crossing Canada by rail, ferry, road. Sketches were published as my first book Sketches from Canada.
- Bet Low Trust Award - £1,000 towards RGI Kelly Gallery exhibition.
- 2008 Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolour (RSW) Alexander Graham Munro Travel Award - travelled to Orkney, cementing my desire to explore the islands of Scotland.
- Self-run ongoing Scotland By Rail art-travel-nature project to explore and highlight our rail-accessible landscapes. I exhibit and speak at railway events, keep a blog about my explorations, etc. Supported by ScotRail.
- Works in many private collections.

- Burntisland station, Fife - ten small outdoor paintings for station Biodiversity Garden
- Dalry station, North Ayrshire - six 4x4ft outdoor paintings for permanent display at award-winning railway station
- Royal Observatory Edinburgh - four towering 4-metre-high canvases depicting land, sky and space, on permanent display in entrance foyer of UK Astronomy Technology Centre, Blackford Hill
- Woolmanhill Hospital, Aberdeen - large two-piece painting on canvas based on Rattray Head lighthouse and dunes

- often invited to speak about my art and my Scotland By Rail travels to groups including the Saltire Society, Friends of the RSA, Blackwell's Bookshops, Linlithgow Book Festival, Scottish Arts Club, local art and nature groups, etc.
- run or have run lots of art workshops including for local art groups, local authorities, Art in Healthcare, RSPB Scotland, Scottish Arts Club, Burntisland Primary School, etc.
