Acrylic on panel
h: 50 w: 40 d: 2 (cms).
This work involves shifts in the tone and contour of the smaller figures so that a larger figure, related to the smaller versions, take shape.
The work comes from a series of invented deities and was due to be shown this April in ‘Of Geometry and Gods, Side by Side’ at Sandham Memorial Chapel until the exhibition was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
These works embrace broader themes of identity, individualism and community. They also reflect my growing interest in contemporary discourse around the indexicality of painting and concepts of difference and repetition.
