Ink/acryllic ink

This painting in ink on 300gms handmade paper is based on a dramatic view of Neist Point on Skye, using photographs and memory.  The ink (always painted on wet paper) helps to increase the drama and deep feeling that I have for this part of Skye in particular.  The work is currently unmounted as the paper has a deckle edge and can be float mounted when framed - this will depend on any buyers' preference

Movement and strength in the sea, pushing land further away.  I was brought up on an island and am well aware of the powers it has to mould landscape and punish those relying on it for a living or transport.  The painting is under a double white mount and a grey frame-  2cm wide, under glass.

The meeting of land and sea has always been an inspiration for me.  The constant pummeling of waves against rigid, impermeable rock, the sound, smell and saturation of salt water runs through me like blood.  I drew, painted a bit (it was very windy) on this bit of coastline near the Butt of Lewis and completed it in the relative calm of my studio.  It is double mounted on white with a grey frame 92cm wide).  Unframed price would include the mount.
