'Arctic Cracking' depicts a glacial landscape and Fjord bay just north of Ny Alesund, Svalbard. The preparatory sketches and photographs for this painting were created in the moment, whilst sitting in snow, when I climbed a mountain which looked down on this incredible view. At the time I was sailing on 'The Antigua', Barquentine Tall Ship, as a participant of the Arctic Circle Residency. This painting was exhibited in China in 2019 and was due to be shipped to Iceland, as part of a solo show named 'One Body, One World', in March 2020, however this exhibition needed to be cancelled due to COVID-19. It would be great to exhibit Arctic Cracking as part of your 2020 Summer Show.
