Among School, Children is a poem by William Butler Yeats. I take inspiration from Yeat's poetry and his mystic atmospheres which he translates into words are brought forward to my instincts and thoughts for painting. I have been fascinated by Picasso's family of Saltimbanques, which depicts the ultimate loneliness and isolation of Man in this incomprehensible world according to the bohemian–Austrian poet Rainer Maria Rilke (1875–1926). Music is not being played but is about to be played or has been played. The image is a moment in time with Picasso's group encapsulated in a top-left area, isolated. I like to experiment with primitivism.
