Clutch studies the interaction of flesh, fabric, and the under painting blue and background gray colors. The folds of the fabric form patterns of shadows and variations within the white, gray, sepia and red colors. The surface of the gray background contrasts with the detailed texture of the fabric. Combining narratives through paint, I consider elements such as liminal space, tension, color and gesture to determine what is revealed versus what remains hidden. Bringing ideas of human emotion into physical, cohesive visual representation through paint engaging with flat surfaces is the aim of the work.
