My work is inspired by architecture, landscape and, directly or indirectly, by human presence. Observations of human nature, and human relationships inform the detail of my works. I aim to evoke emotion or interest in a viewer, with each new glance at work giving new dimensions, interpretations and observations. I play with scale with work offering a glimpse into a new surreal, modern and fantasy world. I am attempting to capture the essence of the materials, the location or the emotions that fuel the work. 

At its most basic I explore the themes of ‘place’ and ‘identity’ through relationships drawn out by deconstructing objects into their most simplistic forms, textures or colours. 

Influenced by my training in architecture, photography and science the works are neither fully realistic nor fully fantasy. I work mostly in oil paint on board or canvas, but sometimes work is mixed media including photography, print and found media. My painting style is often abstract with obvious influences from cubism.
