All of my work engages with sport. Through sculpture, painting, drawing and video my work is always suggestive of collapse as an inevitability of an objects precarity or displacement. Through looking at sport the work examines the relationships between the body and its surrounding structures.
My primary interest lies in when change occurs and an order is disturbed. For me this holds some of the paradoxes that surround us as human beings. These moments are energetic and by capturing them through various mediums, I explore themes of potential, equilibrium, force, connection and disconnection.
My interest in the tennis ball and its pressurised lifespan, is manifested within much of my works as an allegory for the body. They have a corresponding ability to convey something emotional as well as physical. The restraining factors of time and space are further explored through painting and drawing in my repeated use of the athletics track and court fence.
