Henrietta Armstrong is an artist and curator based in London. Her practice looks at prehistoric art forms and how they have evolved independently from each other yet their similarities link to the very thing that makes us human. Considering the messages that are left behind by our ancestors via objects and remnants of their lives, then in turn what messages we will be leaving for the future. She is a multimedia artist & curator mainly using sculpture, but also ceramics and digital art within her practice. Whilst fabricating archaeological artefacts and relics, she looks at the ceremonial practices that could be applied to them, considering rituals from the past and future. She is currently working on a public art commission for the village of Tytherington commissioned by Cotswold Homes & South Gloucestershire Council, to create a permanent sculpture celebrating Tytherington’s history and to integrate the growing community. Last year she was commissioned by Pendle Hill Landscape Partnership and In-Situ to create a series of 12 sculptures, The Pendle Hill Summit Stones, that have been permanently installed around the trig point at the top of Pendle Hill, Lancashire. For the commission she researched all aspects of Pendle life and history as well as spending time talking to the community of Pendle before creating the designs. Henrietta co-founded Come Quick Disaster in 2018, a platform for arts providing help & information for artists as well as running regular talks and crits.
