‘Ancestry I” Monotype, 2019
Monotype on Somerset – 77cm x 57cm UNFRAMED
I have, for some time, been interested in exploring ancestry and family trees. The thought that we have only come to this point in history because of those who we have come from holds a wealth of imagery and pattern.
This piece is one of a series of on going monotype prints using the repeated symbolism of linked circles, which represent generations.
A couple of years ago I returned to the South Coast and came to live on the Isle of Wight, close by where I grew up in the New Forest This sense of returning has greatly affected my work.
