The early years of my life were spent living between Sussex and the North Devon coast. Although I have now lived inland for many years, those early formative sights, sounds and smells are programmed deep in my soul.
The coast has a natural inescapable draw for me, and the changing mood of the water, landscape and skies from warm and serenely calm to the wild and capricious only add to the attraction.
I am at my most creative and happiest in an Island setting, and have spent time painting in The Scottish Islands, The Ria Formosa in Portugal, The Ile de Re in France and The Scilly Isles. It is about losing yourself and ‘time out’ from our fast paced world and allowing me to keep in touch with nature, space and freedom in the open elements.
I work mostly with oils on canvas or board, often turning to a palette knife and my hands as the work progresses. I am not averse to adding some collage if the mood takes me!

An East Anglian Artist based in North Essex, Claire studied Art & History of Art at school, leading on to take a Foundation degree at The Colchester School of Art and specialising in Ceramics.
The demands of a busy family life channeled her creative eye into other avenues and she found a passion for Flowers, Garden and Interior Design.
Over the last ten years she has had the time for Painting again, her ‘true love’.
