Graduating from art college in 2006, I have painted a wide variety of subject matter.  However, over the past 8 years I have continued to visit the coast as my main area of interest.  I enjoy experimenting with media and techniques to capture the Scottish coast. 

The combination of painting and island hopping is my happy place.  I love to explore what makes them individual, different from the island next door.  Getting to know the islands through sketchbooks and studies en plein air gives opportunities to capture these identities through colour, space and mark making.  I find this a good foundation for working up other pieces in the studio.  I have exhibited in various galleries and group shows across Scotland and enjoy hearing other people respond to my work.  From family holidays at the seaside to soul searching pilgrimages by cliffs and coves, everyone has a a story connected to the sea.  Painting has been a great way of unlocking some of these.
