Claire Weinstock’s work transforms spaces to create alternate realities. She prompts the participants to reconsider these spaces and question their perception of art. And by doing so, she hopes that the viewer might prefer this new alternative view, whilst remaining familiar with it. She positions iconic and everyday objects in traditional artistic settings. She merges interesting spaces with my journeys around London. She helps the viewer realise how accessible art can be. Claire is inspired to see what happens to the spaces with these new objects. Are they transformed? Does the viewer to see the historic urban landscapes of London in a different light, and increase their enjoyment the next time they visit.
Claire Weinstock attended Byam Shaw School of Art and Wimbledon School of Art. She now lives and works as a photographer and artist in London. She has a focus on photography and screen printing and can often be spotted recording her journeys around the streets of Pimlico, Baker Street and beyond.
