Statement

This portrait is one of a set of 19 painted during the Coronavirus Lockdown. I took a sitting of 1-2 hours using Zoom and I was particularly intrigued with the viewpoint and insight into the sitters living spaces I was given using this method. I found sitters via a Facebook request to followers of my artworks page. This young woman is a student in Belgium who also works as a life model. The unusual colouring is due to the sun shining through the turquoise curtains she had closed in front of her. The portrait is painted in oils on gessoed linen stretched on a spruce frame. It is 50x40cm in size.
