The paintings evolve organically; I approach each composition as a conversation between myself and the viewer, using symbolism, both established and personal, and narrative without definitive beginnings or endings.

 I look for humour to subvert and the ridiculous in the heroic   

The more ambiguous my starting point, the better the chance of a successful outcome; which for me is to uncover the story beneath the story, 

Jane Andrews completed her BA fine art at West Surrey College of art Art and Design in 1994, and has  continued to paint since then, exhibiting widely with works in public and private collections. 

She now lives in Brighton with her husband who has Parkinson’s disease and works from her studio in Portslade, Jane is currently studying for an MA Fine Art at Brighton University
