My work is inspired by place and circumstance. It has caught the imagination of many and has been exhibited in such diverse places as Eglington Open, Irvine, Ayrshire, Norwich Castle Museum, Kelling Heath Park, Gainsborough House and Norwich Cathedral cloisters - although most is left to honour the place that inspired it, such as the beach at Blakeney Point in North Norfolk, and Salthouse Heath.
It varies in size from 3” x 3 “ to 3 acres, and from 2 dimensional pieces to landscape installations; materials range from the conventional to appropriate materials from site.
Since graduating from a degree in Fine Art in 1997 at NUA I have been a practising artist depicting all facets of nature and the environment which I love so much. This results in many of my pieces being made from natural materials sourced from local places. Although drawing makes up a large part of my conversation with nature, I am primarily a 'maker' rather than a painter.
I have worked and lived in rural Norfolk for the past 30 years although I originated in Ayrshire where my family still farm. I visited the Outer Hebrides a few years ago, where I felt completely at home.
